Q: To start with, can you give us a quick wrap-up of 2024’s top design trends and how they relate to Domaine Homes’ colour schemes?
Alyce: Absolutely! 2024 has been an exciting year for design, and we’ve seen a few standout trends emerge that reflect a variety of styles and moods. The three biggest trends we’ve seen are Retro, Modern Mediterranean, and Biophilic/Mindfulness. Each of these trends can be beautifully created using many of Domaine Homes’ colour schemes:
Retro
This style is eclectic and nostalgic, often featuring organic shapes, pops of colour, geometric patterns, and metallic finishes. It’s all about bringing a playful vibe into your space.
Modern Mediterranean
Inspired by relaxed seaside living, Modern Mediterranean is created via the use of natural textures, arches, earthy tones, and light materials. It’s perfect for creating that calming, sun-drenched, coastal ambience.
Biophilic/Mindfulness
This trend focuses on reconnecting with nature through calming and natural materials like olive greens, soft textures, warm whites, and linen fabrics. It’s all about creating a peaceful environment that nurtures the soul.
Q: In light of Pantone’s recently announced 2025 Colour of the Year: Mocha Mousse, could you share three colour schemes from Domaine Homes' Colour Studio that would complement it?
Alyce: Pantone’s Mocha Mousse is such a rich, decadent colour—perfect for creating a sense of warmth and calm. It’s a versatile brown that blends beautifully with many of our external and internal schemes. Whether used as a main colour or as an accent, it adds sophistication and comfort to any room.
Here’s how it aligns with our colour palettes:
These schemes feature earthy, natural tones and textures that pair wonderfully with Mocha Mousse’s rich depth.
These colour schemes bring in warm neutrals, soft greens, and earthy patterns that harmonise beautifully with the decadence of Mocha Mousse.
We’ve also been working on some exciting new display homes, many of which incorporate these warmer, richer tones, so we can’t wait to share them with you all in the upcoming months!
Q: Looking ahead to 2025, what design trends do you predict we’ll see more of?
Alyce: It’s always fun to predict what’s next! Based on current design trajectories, here are a few trends I believe will dominate in 2025:
Modern Farmhouse
This style is evolving! While timber flooring, large chunky rugs, and industrial lighting will remain staples, expect to see a more luxurious take in 2025. Richer colours, textures, and materials will define this trend, making it feel more sophisticated and grounded.
Contemporary Japandi
This style embraces a lot of the same principles as Biophilic/ Mindfulness. It is uncluttered, has clean architectural lines and earthenware accessories, and has a strong focus on getting back to nature and more mindful living. Originally a blend of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics, we will now see it transition to much more modern interpretations.
Retro
This trend will continue but with bolder, richer colours and more architectural shapes in furniture and accessories. Think of it as Retro 2.0—a bit more refined and luxurious.
Modern Mediterranean
We’ll see deeper, more earthy tones such as richer timbers, brown, and terracotta. This will create a moodier, more grounded version of the relaxed, light aesthetic we’ve come to love.
Q: Do you want to add anything else?
Alyce: 2024 has been a year of exciting design evolution at Domaine Homes, and 2025 promises even more innovation. Whether you’re drawn to the nostalgic vibes of Retro, the coastal serenity of Modern Mediterranean, or the grounding peace of Biophilic design, there’s something for everyone. As always, our design team is dedicated to helping you bring your dream home to life with the perfect colour schemes and the latest design trends.
